LSP Reports

This section contains the latest feedback from our representatives on the Local Strategic Partnership Boards.

LSP Executive

The February LSP agreed to undertake a review of Community Empowerment across partners over the next 3 to 4 months; the headline figures were available from the Residents Survey 2009 which showed that on most indicators progress has been made overall but there are some areas where the figures are not as positive.

The board signed off an Information Sharing Protocol between partners including the voluntary and community sector.

Health and Wellbeing Board

The board received a report on take up of benefits by older people, because the targets are not being met.  It was agreed that a range of voluntary sector organisations should be involved in the re-launch of activity on this target, to ensure that as much of the older population is targeted.

Arts, Sports and Culture Board

Our community rep Steve Flynn outlined the key elements of the London Cultural Skills Fund, and the intention for the board to work together to submit a bid for the second round of funding, the deadline for which was in March. Acton Community Forum would lead this bid, but development of the bid and delivery would involve a number of partners.

Environment and Climate Change Board

The board spent time on a performance update on the various stretch targets and indicators.  That for carbon dioxide emissions is particularly problematic since the figures have only just been released by the government.  We agreed that we needed to revisit targets in this area at our next meeting (7 March).

There was also an interesting presentation from the Park Royal Partnership about how they are addressing the climate change agenda and our rep Robert Gurd gave a brief report on ECN's initiatives (with thanks to Anthony for this).  Finally, the board was told the latest state of development of the third tier groups.  Robert pointed out that biodiversity did not seem to be covered in any of the groups.

Economy, Enterprise and Housing Board

Our community rep Sylvia Francis gave a presentation to the board about how the Voluntary Sector can be involved in tackling “worklessness”, lack of skills and poverty.  This was well received by other members of the board.

We strongly encourage our reps to be active in raising items of concern or interest at partnership board meetings and informing other partners about the role of the voluntary sector.  If you would like a copy of Sylvia’s presentation, or advice about how to get the partnership board to discuss a particular issue, please contact her.

Stronger Communities Partnership

The last board was held at EASe on Copley Close and Jackie Sear gave an overview of the work they are doing on the estate. Other items discussed by the board included the Premises Strategy and the ECN Our Sector Our Voice Survey.

Change for Children Board

The Children's Trust Board reviewed all the funding streams through area based grant and agreed some reductions but less than those recommended due to cuts already made through star chamber system within the council. There is still a lack of clarity about how the LAA targets around education will be dealth with with the demise of some of the SATs testing. Most LAA stretch targets are on course to acheive..
